Barbara Ann Wharton

Barbara Ann Wharton, 60, Appleton City, Mo., died Jan. 16, 2004, at her home in Appleton City following an illness of several months. She was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Independence, Mo., to William J. Lindsey and Iva Melvina Endicott Lindsey. She married Merle Dale Wharton on Dec. 20, 1990, in Miami, Okla., and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Wharton was born and raised in Independence, Mo. She worked for many years in the restaurant business. She was recently co-owner of the Blue Inn Restaurant in Appleton City, Mo. She was a Baptist.

Survivors in addition to her husband Merle, include two sons, Danny Wolfe, Okawville, Ill., and Christopher Wolfe, O'Fallon, Ill.; one daughter, Cheryl Duncan, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; eight grandchildren; four stepsons, Merlin Dale Wharton, Jr., Clinton, Mo., Floyd J. Wharton, Lockwood, Mo., Robert A. Wharton and Donnie R. Wharton, both of Deepwater, Mo.; six step-grandchildren; four sisters, Sadie Love, Holden, Mo., Mary Reddell and Veta Phillips, both of Independence, Mo., and Pearl Jones, Clinton, Mo., numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Shannon Delores Wolfe, two grandchildren, Brandon and Brittany Wolfe, her parents, one brother Ralph Lindsey and four sisters, Nancy Jones, Martha Durken, Edith Moss and Elizabeth VanHaele.

Committal services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 19, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Mo. Arrangements are by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo.
