Robert Lee McAdams, Jr., age 69, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., to Lynda Nell and Robert Lee McAdams, Sr., on March 26, 1934.

He served as a United States Marine Corps pilot in the Naval Flight Instruction Program and graduated from Georgia Tech. He worked in the garment industry as an engineer and plant manager in Missouri and other states.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara, and daughters Belinda Kennedy and husband Scott, of Deerfield, Mo., Patricia Hopkins and husband Darrel of Republic, Mo., and Julie McKinley and husband Kevin of Nevada, Mo. He had eight grandchildren who brought much joy to his life. They are: Matthew and Rachel Kennedy, Nathan, Dylan and Danielle Hopkins, and Ashley, Bryant and Jackson McKinley. He is also survived by two brothers, William McAdams of Salisbury, N.C., and Glenn McAdams of Annapolis, Md. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Services will be held Monday, Jan. 26, at 11:30 a.m., with visitation at 10:30 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, Springfield, Mo., with burial to follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Memorials suggested are American Cancer Society and National Kidney Foundation.
