Rolla Dale Medley

Rolla Dale Medley, 88, Moundville, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at his home. He was born July 21, 1915, in Butler, Mo., to Ila Medley and Margaret Lee Morrison Medley. He married Johnnie Delilah Folkner on March 28, 1936, and she survives of the home.

Rolla moved with his family to Bridger, Mont., where he lived for six years before returning to Butler. He graduated from Butler High School. Following marriage, he and his wife moved to Anderson, Ind., and lived there until 1976. During those years he was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 681, treasurer of the Florida Methodist Church and worked as an auxiliary policeman during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and spent many happy hours on the lakes of northern Indiana. He worked for Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a skilled tradesman for 35 years. He retired and moved back to Missouri. He loved flower gardening, music, reading and research, and enjoyed working on motors. His greatest interest was photography. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a loyal friend and a responsible patriotic citizen.

Dale is survived by his wife Johnnie; two daughters, Kandye Lawler and her husband Dan, Frankton, Ind., and Kelda Maynard and her husband Barney, Evansville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Craig Green and his wife Dana, Leisa Betz and her husband Roy, April Poling and her husband Stefan, Robbin Lee Wilson and her husband Michael; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Emily Betz, Samuel and Grace Poling; one brother, Delmar Medley and his wife Bonnie, Kansas City, Mo.; one stepsister, Shirley Herrman and her husband Eddie, Springfield, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Georgiana Smith, Springfield, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Lavilla Smith Medley and two stepbrothers, Charles and Donald Smith.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with the Revs. John Harrison and John Swatosh officiating. Committal will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
