Robert Lee Griner

Robert Lee Griner, 71, of Mound City, Kan., died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at St. Louis Health Center, Kansas City, Mo. He was born May 2, 1933, at Archie, the son of William and Nannie Gilkerson Griner. He graduated from Adrian High School. He married Mary Snider on July 12, 1978. He was a member of Sugar Valley Golf and Country Club at Mound City, Kan., and past member of Elks at Fort Scott, and Nevada. He was an insurance salesman for Prudential Insurance until his retirement in 1993. Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Mound City; two sons and one daughter, Robert L. Griner II of Fort Smith, Ark.; Lesa M. Post of Mapelton, Kan., and Kevin Griner of Overland Park; one granddaughter, Tara Griner, Fort Smith, Ark.; one brother, William G. Griner and one sister, Mary E. Yager, both of Belton.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 17 at Woodland Cemetery, Mound City. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in Mound City. Contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf/Kansas City Campus. Arrangements are under the direction of Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City.

Ida Belle Smith

Ida Belle Smith, 72, Nevada, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born October 20, 1931 in Sheldon to Charles Floyd Simpson and Minnie E. Brown Simpson. She was married May 31, 1958 in Miami, Ok., to William E. "Bill" Smith who survives of the home.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Nevada High School in 1949. She worked for Key Industries, Nevada, for 23 years and later for the Fram Corporation in Nevada until her retirement due to illness. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Nevada.

In addition to her husband Bill, survivors include one daughter Patricia Ann Headrick, Nevada; two granddaughters; one grandson; two brothers, Jim and Carl Simpson, both of Nevada; four sisters, Anna Louise Collins, Hayward, Calif., Stella Hauf, Nevada, Wilma Hendrix, Nevada, and Reva Fanning, Sugar Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marie Anderson, four brothers, Floyd, Clyde, Roy Simpson and one infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.

Friends may call from now until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family suggests that memorials may be given to the Community Christian Church Youth Group in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Evelyn A. Ross

Evelyn A. Ross, 90, Kansas City, Mo., died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Valley Manor Care Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at the Heuser Funeral Chapel with burial in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill. She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Ross Sr., Excelsior Springs; four children, Albert L. Ross Jr., Garnett, Kan., Mary Lou McCullough, Excelsior Springs, Robert Ross, Liberty, David Ross, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Georgia Faye Bush

Georgia Faye Bush, 90, Raytown, formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Cedar Valley Health Center in Raytown. She was born on Sept. 2, 1913, in Nevada to Bert W. Bush and Faye Compton Bush. She was a Social Security claims representative for 20 years, retiring in 1974. She is survived by her brother-in-law Francis Holtzen, five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Committal services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, at Antioch Cemetery, Vernon County, with the Rev. Paul Mooney officiating. Arrangements are by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Carl Allen Steffan

Carl Allen Steffan, 46, Wichita, Kan., died June 12, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. Services and family information to be announced by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
