Mary Ann Hacker

Mary Ann Hacker, 58, El Dorado Springs, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado Springs, following a short illness. She was born March 4, 1946, in Nevada, to Joseph Hacker and Estella Pearl Palmer Hacker.

Mary Ann grew up in the Walker area and graduated from Walker High School in 1964 where she was an outstanding softball and basketball player. She was instrumental in forming the Nevada Softball Association and building Centennial Park Softball Field. She coached and played on K-W Harvestore-Adams Sales Co. women's fast pitch softball team, playing in the Nevada, Schell City and Springfield leagues. The team also traveled in the four state areas and was ranked as one of the top teams. She played in 25 state and regional softball tournaments. She became the first woman registered MSHSAA official in this area. She refereed and umpired for 16 years in Southwest Missouri including for the Springfield Park Board. She coached for two years for Northeast Vernon County High School softball team. She belonged to the Billboard Songwriters Association. She wrote poems and country songs, including "Dreams Come True" recorded by John Manes. She attended the Caplinger Baptist Church and was a member of the El Dorado Springs Eagles Lodge. She was an avid sports person and loved the SMS Lady Bears and fishing at Caplinger Mills and at the Schell Osage Conservation area. She cherished her family and friends. She was employed for 15 years at 3M in Nevada.

Survivors include three nieces, Sheri Hacker, Malta Bend, Mo., Shelly Sawchak, Springfield, Mo., and Sheila Cook, Carthage; five great-nephews, Hayden, Masen and Dawsen Cook, Carthage, and Sam and Aaron Sawchak, both of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Susie Bradley, Jasper; numerous cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; one sister Jane Hacker; and one brother, Sam Hacker. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 1, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Arthur Koehn officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in her memory to the Mary Ann Hacker Memorial Scholarship Fund of Northeast Vernon County High School in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Anna M. Crawford

Anna M. Crawford, 79, Nevada, died June 24, 2004. Graveside services were held June 28, 2004, at 10 a.m., at Moore Cemetery. Officiating was Dr. William Cox. Musicians were Brian and Marilyn Deem. Musical selection was "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Travis Perkins, Seth Crawford, Luke Crawford, Collin Crawford, Nicholas Crawford, Cameron Crawford, and Daniel Hyder. Interment was at Moore Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.

Mary Evelyn Tinsley Littlefield

Mary Evelyn Tinsley Littlefield, 84, Rich Hill, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Butler. She was born Nov. 29, 1919, the daughter of William A. Tinsley and Sophronia Cowger Tinsley, in Paris, Ark. She was married to Floyd L. Littlefield on June 26, 1940.

She and her husband owned and operated the Farmer's Elevator and Lumber Co., in Hume, and a farm in the New Home community prior to retirement. She was a member of the Foster Christian Church, the Eastern Star Chapter No. 455 and the Foster Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; and one son, Stephen; her parents; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Sue Cain, Rich Hill; a son, Kenneth Littleton, Jefferson City, Mo.; a brother, Thomas Tinsley, Barling, Ark.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, June 30, at Foster Christian Church, with Brother Bill Wallace officiating. Music will be provided by Kay Swickhamer, Ivaleen Wallace, Donya Bridgewater and the Bethany Mennonite Choir. Casketbearers will be Lee Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, Cyrus Nichols, Tom Querry, Vernon Botkin and George Parker. Honorary casketbearers will be Hadd Botkin Sr., Earl Briscoe, Marvin Swickhamer, Tom Tinsley Jr., Ron Crain and Don LeNeve. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill. Arrangements by the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill.
