A beautiful sunset set the tone at Princess Beach in Destin, Fla., for the outdoor summer wedding of Kristie Owens and James Gransbury on Friday, July 30, 2004. A justice of the peace officiated the 7:40 p.m. ceremony.

Given in marriage by her parents, Patricia Owens of Birmingham, Ala., and Wayne Owens, Dallas, Texas, the bride, adorned in a beautiful strapless white dress and fingertip veil and carrying a bouquet of roses, was escorted up the beach by her father to stand next to her husband to be.

Standing up for the couple were the bride's cousin, Latasha Gann, as her maid of honor, and George Hagerman, as the groom's best man.

In addition to her parents, family and friends of the bride, including her grandparents, A.E. and Birdie Gann, Tuskaloosa, Ala., her brother and his family, and several aunts, uncles and cousins, surrounded the couple as the ceremony unfolded.

Members of the groom's family present were his parents, Jimmy and Cathy Gransbury, his sisters, Jessica Gransbury and her 1-year-old son, Bradley, Janette Gransbury and her fiance, Chandler Troupe, all from Bronaugh, Mo.; his grandmother, Nadine Gransbury, Montevallo, Mo.; and several friends, George and Jolee Hagerman and their daughter Nicole, and friend Shaunda, Pittsburg, Kan., George and Sharon Hagerman, Bronaugh Mo., Teressa Groenewald, Kansas City, Mo., John Post, Bronaugh Mo., Ryan Yokley and Andy Collins, Moundville Mo., and Jevan Shorten, Washington, D.C.

Following the wedding, everyone attended a reception at the Sheridan Hotel to congratulate the bride and groom with a catered dinner.

The two-tiered wedding cake decorated with sea shells was surrounded by white sand and sea shells on the table. Several decanters of gold fish were placed throughout on other tables.

After a short honeymoon the couple now reside on the Naval Base at Port Hueneme, Calif.
