William Joseph Byrnes

William Joseph Byrnes, 73, Nevada, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. He was born April 15, 1931, in Nevada, to Clarence Francis Byrnes and Margaret Eleanor Dwyer Byrnes. He married Linda Mae Wilson on April 20, 1955, in Butler, and she survives of the home.

He was born and raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, retiring in 1972. Following his years in the Air Force, he worked for the U.S. Government at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., retiring in 1993. He returned to Nevada in 1996 and spent the remainder of his life here. He was a member of the VFW.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Linda, include one daughter, Jo Miller, Boise, Ida. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Byrnes, and one sister, Sue Harris.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22, at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until 10 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
