Edward Lee Cox, 55, Nevada, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born March 7, 1949, in St. Clair County, Mo., to Vernie Samuel Cox Sr. and Vica Mae Lingle Cox.

He grew up in the Blackjack, Mo., area. He entered the U. S. Navy in the late 1960s serving in the Caribbean. He came to Nevada in the 1970s and lived the remainder of his life here.

Survivors include five brothers, Vernie Cox Jr., Louisburg, Mo., James VanBuren Cox, Nevada, Jerry W. Cox Sr., Nevada, David W. Cox, Richards, Lewis E. Cox, Nevada; one sister, Verona Olmstead, Galmey, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Clarence Cox; and one sister, VaLinda L. Baum.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Mike Satterlee officiating. Interment will follow in Witt Cemetery, Stockton. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Tuesday, 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
