Kathleen Rebecca Sumner, 81, Stockton, formerly of Vernon County, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Cox Medical Center South following a sudden illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in El Dorado Springs, to Oscar Thomas and Ida Florence Hartman Thomas. She was married Dec. 20, 1941, in Lamar, to Harry E. Sumner who survives of the home.

Mrs. Sumner graduated from Richards High School, Richards. She lived in Kansas City, Mo., for a short time in 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was active in the Stockton Christian Church.

In addition to her husband Harry, she is survived by two sons, Tom Sumner and wife, Charlene, Gladstone, Mo., and Richard Sumner and wife, Lee, Anaheim, Calif.; one daughter, Janice Sue Snail and husband, Rick, Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Mike Tunnell officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Stockton Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
