Cawood Ingle Neas

Cawood Ingle Neas, 89, Rt. 3, Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1915, in Irwin, Mo., to Horace C. Neas and Mattie Walker Neas. He married La Nelle Duncan on Oct. 5, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kan., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1992.

Cawood was employed for 35 years by Texaco Cities Service Pipeline Company. He retired in 1977 as an Engineer. During his employment he was very active as a member and state and national representative for the Oilworkers' Union. During his retirement Cawood enjoyed quail hunting with his friends, attending auction sales and acquiring real estate. Affiliations include Life Member of Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564 and Moundville Methodist Church, Moundville.

Cawood and La Nelle are survived by their daughters, Sherrial N. Taylor and La Mae N. Bryant, both of Nevada; four grandsons, Jeffery Jackson Swearingen, Matthew Ingle Sweatingen, Joseph Wooddy Swearingen, all of Nevada, and Jayson Wessley, Baytown, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Megan Wessley, Dalton Wessley, Jadyn Mattie Swearingen, Carter Jackson Swearingen and Owen Wooddy Swearingen, all of Nevada, and Nathan Wessley, Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, at the All Saints' Episcopal Church, 425 E. Cherry, Nevada with The Right Rev. Mimi Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
