Gladys Matilda Pyle Banks

Gladys Matilda Pyle Banks, 94, Nevada, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Walker, to Thomas Francis Pyle and Hattie Mable Dixon Pyle. She married Clifford Banks and he preceded her in death in July 1976.

She grew up in Walker, attended Nevada schools, and spent her entire life in Vernon County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church where she was active in Sunday school and the women's group.

Survivors include one grandchild, Samantha Francis, Richards; two great-grandchildren, Kylee Francis and Kail Francis, both of Richards; and two brothers, Jim Pyle and Tom Pyle, both of Nevada. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert E. Banks in 1992; two brothers, Herbert Pyle and Claude Pyle; and two sisters, Bertha Current and Lela Porter.

Funeral services were held at Ferry Funeral Home today, March 15, at 10:30 a.m., with George Garwood officiating. A duet was sung by Kenny and Gwen Jones. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Kenny Wilson, Bob Heathman, Benny Nall, Kenny Jones, George Jones and Huleigh Wilson. Interment was in Newton Burial Park. Arrangements are by Ferry Funeral Home.
