Roberta Conley

Roberta Conley was born to Bruno Roehrl and Elinor Kirby Roehrl on June 5, 1943, in Binghamton, N.Y. She died April 14, 2005, at her home in El Dorado Springs, after a long and valiant battle with metastatic melanoma. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Pa. She met John R. Conley there and they married in Dunkirk, N.Y., on April 24, 1962. They made their home in Erie where their sons Christopher and Steven were born. They later moved to Camillus, N.Y., and finally to El Dorado Springs in 1977. They owned and operated the C&H Motel in El Dorado Springs until their retirement in 1999.

Roberta was a member of the El Dorado Springs First Presbyterian Church, GFWC Progress Club, High Hopes cancer support group and CCMH auxiliary. Her greatest joys were her art and her grandchildren. Her paintings reflect her joy in living and her love of beauty.

She is survived by her husband, John; her son, Christopher and his wife, Christine, of Bolivar, Mo.; her son, Steven and his wife, Jennifer, of Nevada; and her grandsons, Ethan, David, Ryan, Trevor and Robby. She is also survived by three brothers, Richard Roehrl , of Santa Barbara, Calif., Charles Roehrl , of Erie, Pa., and Stuart Roehrl, of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; and three sisters, Margaret Kier, of Huntington, Vt., Barbara Mountaintop, of Wattsburg, Pa., and Dorothy Deyev, of Fairview, Pa.

Funeral services for Roberta Conley will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 1 p.m., at the Hackleman Chapel. Interment will be in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the High Hopes cancer support group of El Dorado Springs in care of the funeral home.
