Thomas Dale Hacker, 66, Nevada, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following an illness of 15 months.

He was born Nov. 25, 1938, in Walker, to Howard Hacker and Angie Palmer Hacker. He was married to Sharon Stong in 1971 in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Tom grew up in Walker, and graduated from Walker High School in 1956. He was in the Missouri National Guard for 10 years. Tom was employed at only two jobs, Karbes and Village Market, Rameys for 45 years. Tom attended Community Christian Church and the United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 564 in Nevada, and was a past-exalted ruler.

In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by one son, Chris Hacker, of the home; one daughter, Tonia Bowman and husband, Curt, and baby granddaughter, Brealynn "Hope" Bowman, Nevada; one sister, Bonnie McDaniel and husband, Clifford, Nevada; four brothers, Bob Hacker and wife, Carol, Nevada, Dick Hacker and wife, Sandy, Nevada, Jim Hacker and wife, Rita, Butler, Bill Hacker and wife, Marge, El Dorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sue Hacker Daniel; a close cousin, Mary Ann Hacker; nieces, nephews, and many grocery customers; along with his best friend and best man, Harold D. Wallace, who died in 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call from now and until the time of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday between 12 and 1 p.m. and also for 30 minutes after the service.
