Donald Darrell Evans

Donald Darrell Evans, 74, Bronaugh, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 15, 1931, in Jerico Springs, Mo., to Herbert Gerald Evans and Artie Ellen Shields Evans. He married Lieselotte Herbrand on Jan. 21, 1952, in Bamberg, Germany. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2004.

He was born and reared in this area. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years from 1948 to 1968. Following retirement from the service, he worked as a security consultant for a number of years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Liberal Methodist Church, Liberal, Mo., the Nevada American Legion, and V.F.W.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Nunley, Bronaugh; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Gerald Evans Jr., Galax, Va.; and one sister, Savella Stewart, Mulberry, Kan. He was preceded in death by three infant grandsons; one great-grandson; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., on Friday, July 15, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
