Sharon Kay Mendenhall, 48, Nevada, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at her home in Nevada following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 22, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harold Deloyt Hill and Eunice Almeda Wilton Hill.

Sharon was born in Kansas City and raised in Joplin. She graduated as an LPN from Franklin Technical School in 1979. Later, she graduated from Fort Scott Community College, becoming a registered nurse. She worked at a variety of area hospitals including 15 years at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada. She will be remembered for her dedication and compassion for her patients. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling very much.

Survivors include one son, Richard Hemphill, Nevada; one daughter, Angela Adlich and her husband, Phil, Warrensburg, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jessica Determan, Dominick Adlich, Tyler Adlich, and Allison Adlich, all of Warrensburg, Mo.; companion, Steve Clark, of the home; mother, Eunice Hill, Joplin; two brothers, Bill Hill, San Antonio, Texas, Dale Hill, Joplin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hill.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Glyn Davies officiating. Committal will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service. The family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Thursday, July 28, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
