John Charles Perkins

John Charles Perkins, 67, Carthage, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Freeman Health Care Systems in Joplin, following an illness of several weeks.

He was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Springfield, to Russum Lloyd Perkins and Eunice Mabel Holmes Perkins. He was married June 3, 1956, in the Central Christian Church, Springfield, to Glenda Stiles who survives of the home.

He was born and raised in Springfield, and graduated from Central High School. Following college he became a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and served as a trooper for eight years. He then worked for Tri-State Motor Transit for two years and then served as vice president of Sooner Express. In later years he operated his own businesses, Outdoor Living and Perkins and Associates Inc. He was a member of the National Heavy Duty Truck and Equipment Claims Council and a member of the Central Christian Church in Springfield.

In addition to his wife, Glenda, he is survived by one son, John David Perkins, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Deborah Jean Davis, Republic, Mo.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Sue Needham, Springfield.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, at Antioch Cemetery, Nevada, with Mark Vancil officiating.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Carthage Humane Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
