Mary Louzetta Akins

Mary Louzetta Akins, 85, Nevada, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born May 3, 1920, in Centralia, Okla., to Walter Henry Mistler and Evelena Lawson Mistler. She and Charles Clyde Akins were married on May 3, 1941, in Harrisonville, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1997.

Mary came to Vernon County with her family at a young age in 1924. She was a homemaker. She was active in the Westpoint 4-H for many years. She served in the Vernon County 4-H Youth Fair Dinner for many years. Mary attended the Berea Christian Church and the Horton Methodist Church. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and the Blue Mound Grange for many years.

Survivors include one son, Harvey Akins, of the home; one brother, Silas Mistler, Walker, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Charles Clyde Akins, she was preceded in death by one brother, Philip J. Mistler.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 13, at Balltown Cemetery, Horton, Mo., with the Rev. Melvin Mabra officiating. Friends may call now and until 1:30 p.m., on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
