Edith Eleanora Franklin, age 79, of Nevada, Mo., died on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born on May 8, 1927 in Rinard, Iowa, to Rodney Oren Murphy and Goldie Mildred Yoder Murphy. On July 6, 1947, she was married in Kansas City, Mo., to J.D. Franklin and he preceded her in death in 1984. Eleanora grew up in Rinard and graduated from Rinard High School in 1945. In 1950, she moved with her family to Kansas City, Mo., where she lived all her life until moving to Nevada in 2003, to be near her daughter. She was a homemaker and belonged to the Longview Methodist Church while in Kansas City.

She is survived by one son, Robert Franklin and his wife Julie, of Nixa, Mo.; one daughter, Beverly Harbit and her husband Mike, of Nevada; seven grandchildren, Wendy Franklin, Ryan Franklin, Raeganne Franklin, Aubrey Franklin, Jason Franklin, Bailey Harbit, and Conner Harbit; one brother, Richard Murphy, Kansas City, Mo.; and 15 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Curt Franklin; and two sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., on Wednesday. July 12, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Graveside services will follow on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit, Mo. Friends may call from now until noon on Wednesday.
