Joseph William Saylor

Joseph William Saylor, 70, Sheldon, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, due to a tractor accident. He was born July 15, 1936, in Quincy, Ill., to Gilbert E. Saylor and Lillian V. Wardlow Saylor. He married Ann Darting on Oct. 27,1991, in Sheldon, and she survives of the home.

Joseph grew up and went to school in Quincy. He joined the U.S. Marines at age 17 and served for three years. He worked for more than 30 years for the Missouri Conservation Department and retired as assistant area manager of the upper Missouri wildlife area in the state of Missouri. He retired in 1991 and has lived in Sheldon the past 15 years. Joseph was a member of the Sheldon Baptist Church and the NRA.

Survivors in addition to his wife Ann Darting Saylor; one son, Joseph A. Saylor, Sheldon; two daughters, Pamela Ann Saylor, Kansas City, Mo., and Deborah K. Saylor, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his mother, Lillian V. Saylor, Quincy; and one brother, Allen Saylor, St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Gilbert Saylor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 8, at the Sheldon Baptist Church, Sheldon. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., on Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
