Beverly Lena Thompson, age 72, a resident of Arcadia, Kan., entered the House of our Lord at 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. She was born May 30, 1934, in Gettysburg, S.D., to Carl and Clara Kursave Titze.

She grew up and attended school in Lebanon, S.D. She worked for the Aeronautics Commission in the capitol building in Pierre, S.D., and the Land Management Office in Gettysburg, S.D. She moved to Hayward, Calif., in 1954, and married Jess H. Thompson on Jan. 22, 1955, in Hayward. He passed away on Jan. 12, 1993. She moved to Canon City, Colo., in 1962 where she worked as production supervisor at Estes Industries for four years and later as supervisor at Ren Electronics for three years. She moved to Arcadia in 1986 where she resided until her death. Her hobbies included fishing and camping, and she enjoyed visiting Colorado.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra L. Dohle and husband Jerome, of Arcadia; one son, Jerry L. Thompson and wife Sharon, Fort Scott; and one stepson, James H. Thompson and wife Sandy, of California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Angela Salts, Chad Swenzey, Brad Swenzey, Shanna Staton, Jill Hoffman, Terry Prestley and Ashley Gates; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Salts, Evan Swezey, Zane Staton, Alyx Staton, Andon Prestley and Victoria Hoffman; two brothers, Kenneth Titze and Rolland Titze; and a close and cherished sister-in-law, Jane Bums. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Calvin Titze, Norman Titze and Donald Titze; and four sisters, Lola Cermak, Verna Huebner, Maybelle Converse and Bernice Koch.

William James Schafer, Mercy Pastoral Care, will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Monday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
