Frederick Wayne Mitchell Jr., 45, Nevada, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at his farm near Deerfield, Mo. He was born Oct. 19, 1961, in Fort Scott, Kan. He was the only child of Frederick Wayne Mitchell Sr. and Wilma Nadine Johnson Mitchell.

Fred attended Nevada R-5 schools and graduated in 1980. He farmed with his father and moved to Nevada, after his father's death in 2001. His mother died in 1968. Fred liked to attend farm auctions and sale barns. He spent many hours with his uncle, Bobby Mitchell, watching television. When Bob died in 2002, Fred was very lonely. Fred's passion was driving the highways and byways.

Survivors include two uncles, Bill Johnson and wife Virginia, Deerfield, and Roland Hughes, Independence, Mo.; surviving cousins are Sharon Goding, Bill Smith, Carol Henson, Donna Simpson, Phyllis Spainhoward, Maxine Pole, Kenneth, Phil, Gene, Roger, Billy Joe, Melvin and Russell Johnson, Claribel Kerrick and Kelly Hughes.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 27, at the Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, with Kelly Hughes officiating.

Friends may call now and until 1 p.m., Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family suggests that meniorials may be made, in his honor, to the Deerfield Cemetery Trust Fund in care of the funeral home.
