O. Earlene Ewing

O. Earlene Ewing, 82, Sheldon, Mo., passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo., following a short illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Sarcoxie, Mo., to Thomas Andrew Moore and Zelpha Mae Pryor Moore. She was married Feb. 13, 1953, in Joplin, Mo., to George R. Ewing and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Ewing grew up in the Sarcoxie and Joplin, area and graduated from Joplin High School. She came to Nevada in 1954 and lived in Sheldon, since 1968. She worked for MFA Grain in Lamar, Mo., as a bookkeeper from 1968 until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her husband George, she is survived by one daughter, Robyn Fowler, and her husband, Kerry, Sheldon; two granddaughters, Crystal Shepherd and husband Jay, Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Charity Ogle and her husband, Justin, Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Cade Ewing Shepherd and Avery Lynn Ogle; two sisters, Evelyn Diener, Olathe, Kan., and Betty McCallister, Webb City, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Paul Leasor and Ted Furry officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan.

Friends may call now and until the time of service at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday between 7-8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to the Nevada Assembly of God Church or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
