Norma Louise Johnson, 75 of Webb City, Mo., formerly of Pittsburg, Kan., died at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center in Webb City, Mo.

Norma was born February 23, 1932 in Goodman, MO to Merritt G. and Ethel A. (Carl) Swaim. She attended area schools, graduating from Ft. Scott High School with the class of 1950.

On Jan. 9, 1955, in Fort Scott, Kan., she married Vernon E. (Bud) Johnson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1988.

Norma was a clerk, for many years, at the Crawford County Courthouse. She also worked for Co-Op in Girard.

Survivors include her sons Stephen Johnson and his girlfriend Millie Turley of Neosho, Mo.; Douglas Johnson and his wife Kaysea of Franklin, Kan., and Roger Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Palm Harbor, Fla.; sisters Virginia Phillips of Joplin, Mo.; Eunice Burcham of Grove, Okla., and Erma Maycumber of Hot Springs, Ark.; sister-in-law Alpha Swaim of Webb City, Mo; along with eight grandchildren; Jennifer Jamison, Jeff Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Clinton Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Couper Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Donya Heil and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother at infancy and brother Victor Swaim.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay, in Frontenac, Kan., with Merwyn McMillan officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Bourbon County. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 27 at Friskel Funeral Home, 5-7 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after 5 p.m. on Sunday. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay St in Frontenac.
