Lady Tigers open volleyball season

JOPLIN -- The Nevada High School volleyball teams opened their season on Tuesday at College Heights.
The Lady Tigers, the defending champions of the Southwest Conference, lost a tough three-game match, 16-25, 25-22 and 17-25.
Emma Dreyer led Nevada with 10 assists; Mariah Mock compiled seven kills and Lindsay Rice had two blocks.
In the junior varsity match, Nevada lost 28-26 and 36-34 in two hard-fought games that went into overtime.
The Lady Tigers' freshman team lost to College Heights, 25-18 and 25-8.
Softball team falls
The Lady Tigers' varsity softball team dropped to 0-3 on the season after getting ambushed 16-1 in a three-inning game Tuesday at Bushwhacker Field.
