James W. "Jim" Beaman

James W. "Jim" Beaman, 86, of Harwood, passed away Oct. 5, 2007. He was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Fondis, Colo., the son of William F. Beaman and Flossie Masters.

Jim married Myrtle A. Franklin, on June 1, 1947, in Calhan, Colo. They had five children.

Jim is a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947.

Jim and Myrtle moved to Harwood, in February 1955, where they reared their children and operated a farm. He worked as a carpenter doing construction and was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 1271. He enjoyed collecting and working on old and antique cars and tractors. he was a long-time member and elder of the Schell City Christian Church.

Jim was preceded in death by two brothers; Rex and Keith Beaman; two sisters, Ruth Beaman and Naomia Hansen; a granddaughter, Jacquline Moreno-Barnes; and a great-granddaughter, Avery Wigton.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrtle; his five children, Barbara Mills and husband Stephen, of Kansas City; Martha Owens and husband Ken, of Branson; William Beaman and his wife Denise, of Belton; Donna Tabor and husband Greg, of Nevada; and Glenn Beaman and wife Gerdi, of Nevada; 16 grandchildren; Stacey Miles and husband Damon, Brenda Rushing and husband Marc, Jim Mills and wife Amanda, Keith Owens, Janell Alahmad and husband Abe, Karen McQueary and husband John, Josh Beamna and wife Charlene, Amelia Wigton and husband John Jacob Beaman; Rechelle, Renee and Brandon Tabor, Jameson and Mary Barnes, Shawn and Benjamin Beaman; eight great-grandchildren; Abby and Colton Rushing, Christopher Miles, Zane and Gage Wigton; DeAngelo Vincent, Rechelle, Mia, and Brandon Moreno; one brother Dale and wife Phyllis, of Indiana; one sister Norma Jean Kelly, of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Schell City Christian Church, in Schell City, with brother Monte Shoemake officiating. Musical selections were provided by Diane Eslinger, Madalyn Crocker, Winnie Smith and Connie Gerster. A family eulogy was offered by Bill Beaman. Pallbearers were Keith Owens, Joshua Beaman, Jim Mills, Benjamin Beaman, Jacob Beaman, and Brandon Tabor. Interment was at the Green Lawn Cemetery, in Schell City.

Memorials are suggested to the Schell City Christian Church in care of Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, in Schell City, who were also entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Beaman.
