Martha Louise Evans, 81, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Sheldon, to Clyde William Hickman and Lydia Louise Tyree Hickman.

She married Walter E. Evans Jr. on Nov. 16, 1945, in Nevada, and he preceded her in death in 1982.

Martha was born and raised in Vernon County and graduated from Nevada High School in 1944.

She spent the majority of her adult life in the Kansas City area as a homemaker. She was a member of the Blue Springs Al-Anon and was an avid bird watcher.

Survivors include four sons, Walter B. Evans Ill, Augusta, Ga., William Rodney Evans, Oak Grove, Mo., John Evans, Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Joseph Evans, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Sharon Louise Linnenbringer, Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Polly Evans Chamberlain, Warsaw, Mo., nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, William Clyde Hickman, Deerfield, Mo.; four sisters, Leta Mae Wallace, Sparta, Tenn., Jane Swan and Ginger Rogers, both of Independence, Mo., and Shirley Cooper, Wichita, Kan.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
