Helen L. Hillier

Helen L. Hillier, 71, of Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, in Kansas City, Mo., following an illness of several months. She was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Sheldon, to John Hobbs and Fern Sallee Hobbs. She married Stanley E. Hillier, on Feb. 8, 1958, in Ketterman, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1993.

Helen grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School, in 1954. She worked at Davison's Shoes for a number of years. She has been employed by Ferry Funeral Home for the past 15 years and also by CPWSD No. 1 answering phones for many years.

Survivors include on son, Larry Hillier and his wife Lana, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ashley Hillier and Ryan Hillier, both of Lee's Summit; two sisters, Mary Jones, of Richards, and Dorothy Manes and her husband Robert, of Clinton; her aunt, Mable Flewelling, of Nevada, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday Feb. 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. Friends may call now until the hour of service. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
