Bernard Calvin Wooldridge, 78, of Sheldon, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born June 23, 1929, in Jerico Springs, Mo., to Floyd Pearl Wooldridge, and Beulah Jane Kirksey Wooldridge. He was married Jan. 10, 1952, in Eureka Springs, Ark., to Marlene Hutchison and she preceded him in death in March 1999.

Bernard was born in Jerico Springs, and reared in Greenfield, Mo., and graduated from Greenfield High School. He made his living in a variety of pursuits including logging, trucking, and as a bowling alley manager in Stockton. He also worked and retired from the maintenance department for the city of Sheldon. He attended Sheldon Christian Church, in Sheldon, and was a charter member of the Sheldon Lions Club and held a variety of offices. He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors include one daughter Paula Heard and her husband Craig, of Nevada; two grandchildren, Mason Heard and Marissa Heard, both of Nevada; two brothers, Floyd Wooldridge, of Greenfield, and John Wooldridge, of Stockton; one sister Ellen Ewing, of Stockton. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 13, at the Sheldon Christian Church, in Sheldon, with Andrew Kirschner and Daniel Koch officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery.

Friends may call now until 8 p.m., on Tuesday at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, from 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
