Joyce Elizabeth Walker, 78, of Nevada passed away on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. She was born March 27, 1929, in Fresno, Calif., to William Thomas Palfrey and Margaret Elizabeth Hassing Palfrey. She was married Oct. 5, 1945, to Johnnie Bishop Walker and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2005.

Mrs. Walker was born and raised in California and attended school there. She worked for many years at Golden West College, in Westminster, Calif., in the field of interpretation for the deaf. She later had training in the field of Missions, graduating from Rhem Bible College, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She came to Nevada in 1994, and spent the remainder of her life here. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church, in Nevada. She loved quilting and was an avid reader. She was loved by all who knew her and that love was returned in full.

Survivors include two sons, John B. Walker, of Ventura, Calif., and Lyle W. Walker, of Medford, Ore.; two daughters Marie Burkhardt, of Branson, and Dawn Watson, of Nevada; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her spouse, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clyde Paltry and Don O'Conner.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, March 6, at the Pentecostal Assembly, in Nevada, with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, of Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5, between 7 and 8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to the Pentecostal Assembly Church, Nevada, in care of the funeral home.
