Violet L. Testman

Violet L. Testman, 90, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at River Hills Village, in Keokuk.

Violet was born on April 4, 1917, in Keokuk, the daughter of Otis and Ferol Kerr Milligan. She was united in marriage to Clyde A. Testman on July 20, 1936, in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1994.

She was employed at Hubingers during World War II and for a short time she was employed at Swifts. Later she was employed at Drydens in Keokuk until 1952. Thereafter her life centered around her family, home, and church.

Violet was an active member of First Christian Church in Keokuk and Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Elmira Chapter No. 40 Order of The Easter Star.

Violet loved traveling in their motor home and had visited 48 states. She was always working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Some of her other interests included fishing, boating, bowling, and golf. She loved listening to all kinds of music and in her younger years, she enjoyed dancing the "jitterbug."

Survivors include her son, Larry Testman and his wife Mary Jo of Nevada, her daughter, Patricia Samuels of Keokuk, a brother, Gale Milligan of Keokuk, a sister, Barbara Clinton, her husband James of Warsaw, Ill.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Violet was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, March 12, at Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, Iowa. with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the family meeting with friends at that time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa.
