Nora A. Henson, 81, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Bates County, Mo., to Ira Newton King and Sarah Lea Malcom King. She married Orvel Bridges in 1961 and celebrated 38 years of marriage before his death in 1998. She later connected with an old family friend, Stanley Henson, and they were married on Dec. 31, 1999, until Stanley departed this life in 2003. Shortly after, Nora had to move to Moore-Few Nursing Home until her passing.

Nora was raised in rural Bates County near the old Bethel Baptist Church where she accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. She moved back to this area in 1961 where she worked at Nelly Don Factory for a number of years. After retirement, she decided to work part-time at the Wal-Mart snack shop for a short time. She was an avid fisherman most of her life, also enjoyed her gardening, canning, and cooking for her family. Nora was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Rollin Wallace and his wife Donna, of Nevada, and Bob Wallace and his wife Marcella, of Nevada; one daughter, Faye Periman and her husband Bob, of Nevada; one step-daughter, Mary O'Hair and her husband Darrell, Deerfield, Mo., 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Norma Brammell, of Independence, Mo., Lucille Hoglan, of West Plains, Mo, Martha Scott, of Harrisonville, Mo., Arletta Dover, of Shelton, Wash., and June Northup, of Elmwood, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Sonny, George and Jasper King; one sister, Beatrice Goswick; one son, Eddie Wallace; one daughter, Rita June Wallace; one grandson, Darren Wallace; and one great-grandson, Joshua Wallace.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, May 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
