Clara Marie Sumner

Clara Marie Sumner, of Metz, passed away on May 17, 2008, at 6:06 p.m., in Blue Springs, Mo.

Mrs. Sumner was born on July 18, 1916, the daughter of John Barton Morris and Jessie Reed Morris, on a farm west of Metz and grew up in the same area.

She was a member of the Metz Methodist Church and retired from the Metz school district in 1980.

Her survivors include; one son, Wayne Sumner, of Blue Springs; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Sumner, of Metz; six grandchildren and their spouses, Matt and Terry Starr, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Camille and Kem Murphy, of Blue Springs, Scott and Veronica Sumner, of Acworth, Ga., Lisa and Monty Hawks, Metz, Craig and Lisa Sumner, of rural Rich Hill, and Cristi and Billy Durossette, of Fort Scott; eight great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cody and Kipp Murphy, Michel Sumner, Justin and Jamie Sumner, and Josh and Jacob Durossette; sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Sumner; son, Jackie Sumner; her parents and siblings.

Marie, the name her friends knew her by, lived for 91 years. She had a lot of friends and will be missed by anyone whoever crossed her path. Marie would want a speacial thank you to be given to Rosalee Burchell, Argie Hickman, Nikki West and Peggy West, for all their love and support.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, at the Metz Methodist Church, in Metz, with Connie Locke officiating. Interment will follow in the Pryor Creek Cemetery, in Metz.
