Sarah Margaret Palmer, passed away at the age of 101, on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at her residence.

Sarah was born Nove. 3, 1906, on a farm deal Selma, Iowa, in Van Buren County. She was the daughter of Harrison and Sarah Margaret (Hutton) Oliver, the yougest of 11 children, all whom have preceded her in death.

Margaret married George Dewey Palmer on Jan. 13, 1934, in Nevada. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 1991. George preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1991.

Margaret graduated in may 1924 as Valedictorian from Douds-Leando High School in Iowa. In January 1925, she graduated from Business College, in Chillicothe, Mo. From there she went to Kansas City, Mo., where she worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and office manager for 11 years until her marriage. Margaret lived on a farm about 10 miles southeast of Nevada, in the Sandstone vicinity for 10 years. She moved to Nevada in 1945, where she resided until her death.

Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church, a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and Beta Sigma Phi, Kansas City Chapter. She was also eligible for membership in the D.A.R.

Survivors include: her three sons, Robert and his wife Connie Palmer, of Nevada, Harold Palmer, of Nevada, and Lloyd and his wife Joanne Palmer, of New York. Margaret was blessed with 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 29, at the United Methodist Church, in Nevada. Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
