Bobby Gene "Bob" Conner, age 71 of Nevada, passed away suddenly on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Milo, Mo., the first of six children to Robert A. and Helen Mann Conner. He was married to Ila Crum on June 1, 1957, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Bobby lived most of his life in Vernon County and was a backhoe operator for many years. He was currently semi-retired with Vernon County Bridge. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, and spending time with his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife Ila include five sons; Rodney Conner and his wife Tammy, of Kannapolis, N.C., Rick Conner, Robby Conner, Roger Conner, and Ronnie Conner and his wife Emma; two daughters, Diane Gilmore and her husband Jerry and Debi Kimbrough and her husband Jeff, all of Nevada; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kay Overton, Nevada, Sharon Dipman, of Sheldon, and Vickie Rice and her husband Jim; one brother Allen Conner, of the state of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Donnie, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery. Friends may call from noon on Sunday until the hour of service on Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home.
