Reception

Jan and Shane's beach theme reception was celebrated on Aug. 8, 2008, at the Nevada Elk's banquet hall. Tiki torches and ferns lined the entrance adding to the tropical ambiance. The guest tables were covered in gold overlay with centerpieces of bromeliads, votive candles set in sand and pebbles, and tropical colored mints were designed by Penne Moore. A grand colonnade set the center stage for the bride and groom's traditional toasts of their three-tier wedding cake and champagne punch. Mrs. Dennis Sanders and Mrs. Dick Webb, aunts of the bride, served the cake and punch. Elegant arrangements and topiaries of orchids, hibiscus and bird of paradise were placed throughout the hall. Carved watermelon baskets garnished with pineapple, grapes, strawberries and melon skewers created a festive fruit bar.

Guests were treated to a buffet dinner featuring smoked meats, sides and drinks catered by Pit Crew BBQ.

A video of Jennifer and Shane's childhood memories was shown, to the enjoyment of guests.

The traditional "first dance" and "father-daughter dance" were spotlighted by music provided by disc jockey David Badgley throughout the evening.

For the reception, the bride wore a floor-length eyelet gown and a strand of pearls belonging to her great-grandmother.

The event was designed and coordinated by Cherry Street Celebrations.
