Darryl Leon Wise, age 58, resident of Fort Scott, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, 2009, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born Dec. 16, 1950, in Oakdale, Calif., the son of Huber Leon Wise and Ruby Nelle Reavis Wise. Darryl married Alona Brown on July 1, 1972, at Fort Scott. He had worked for several years at Wood's Auto Body Repair in Nevada. At the time of his death, he was employed by Extrusions in Fort Scott. Darryl also played the bass guitar for the Better Daze Band.

Survivors include his wife, Alona, of the home; a daughter, Mindy Russell and husband, Casey, Fort Scott; and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Brysen Russell. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Virginia Brown, of Fort Scott, and his step-mother, Hazel Wise, of Bronaugh, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Bernard Brown.

Pastor Phil Wilson will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Church of God and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
