Anna Margaret Hamersley

Anna Margaret Hamersley, 95, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Cedar County, Mo., to John Henry Alexander and Lillie Belle McDowell Alexander. She married Albert Earl Hamersley on Nov. 17, 1934, in Mapleton, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1989.

Anna was born and reared in this area and spent virtually her entire life here. She worked for various grocery stores in her life, primarily in the butcher or bakery shops. She also worked for a number of years as a nurses' aide. She helped her husband Earl in the farming business for a lifetime. Anna was a member of the Berea Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, David Earl Hamersley and his wife Kuan Kuan, Nevada, and John Edwin Hamersley and his wife Bobbie Jean, rural Walker; five grandchildren, Cindy Ann Winters, Nevada, Deanna Lynn Hines, St. Louis, Mo., David Charles Hamersley, Sheldon, Mo., Scott Edwin Hamersley, Owasso, Okla., and Tracy Edwin Hamersley, Parkville, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katherine Gilroy, St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one granddaughter, Dana Carol Hamersley; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Tim Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery, Ketterman, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 9:30-10:30 a.m., on Friday prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home.
