David L. Jones Sr., 61, Nevada, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada following a sudden illness. He was born on July 15, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., to Lewis Joseph Jones and Ruth Ann Barker Jones. He married Yvonne Craig and to this union Davina and David Jr., were born. He later married Becky Joan Troyer on July 6, 1997, in Carthage, Mo., and she survives of the home.

David grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from East High School in 1965. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1969. David worked in commercial construction. He lived and worked in Norman, OK, setting up mobile homes before he came to Vernon County in 1986. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Kansas City, MO, in the Claycomo Plant for a number of years. David was a member and Past Trustee of the Nevada Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770. He was founder and president of the Nevada Eagles Riders and a member of the VFW Post No. 2175.

In addition to his wife Becky, survivors include Davina Jones-Gilham and her husband Tim, Trenton, Mo., Andrew Garwood and his wife Karen, Nevada, and David Lewis Jones Jr., and his companion Brandi and her sons, Bradey, Peyton, and Kaden, Nevada; four grandchildren, Ellis Gilham, Emma Gilham, Addison Gastel, and Saylor Garwood; his parents, Joe and Ruth Jones, Milo; one sister, Joann Guzman, Milo; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donny Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with David Troyer officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
