Orville Fredrick Schilling

Orville Fredrick Schilling, age 89, resident of Fort Scott, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Mercy Health Center. He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Mulberry, Kan., the son of Charlie and Mary Cleffman Schilling. Orville married Emma L. Davidson on Jan. 1, 1943, in Clarksville, Tennessee. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2007. Orville served with the United States Army during World War II. Orville worked for Key Industries and later worked for 26 years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. He retired in 1983. Orville was a member of the Community Christian Church as well as a life member of the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed camping and attending his grandchildren's ballgames.

Survivors include a son, Dale Schilling and wife, Donna, Fort Scott; a daughter, Carole Yoos and husband, Bill, Bronaugh, Mo.; and a brother, Delbert Schilling, and wife, Gloria, Fort Scott; two grandchildren, Travis Schilling and wife, Tina, Fort Scott, Fred Stoughton and wife, Diana, Fort Scott; five step-grandchildren, Brenda Larson, Deerfield, Mo., Dr. William Yoos and wife, Rose, Centerton, Kan., Steve Yoos, Costa Mesa, California, Kenneth Yoos, Liberal, Mo., and Kim Schneider and husband, Stan, Gentry, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tabitha Schilling and Mac, Mitch, and Morgan Stoughton; 15 step-great-grandchildren, Tasha Larson, Erica, Katrina, and Kayla Yoos, Lindsay and Scott Cronister, Kaitlyn Yoos, and Dustin, Amanda and Emily Staples; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Brodie Stoughton; and two step-great-great-grandchildren, Madison Larson and Hope Marie Cronister. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents

The Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, at the Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Family and friends will meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:20 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Village and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S.
