Louise Morain, 70, of Lamar, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Freeman Hospital West, in Joplin.

Louise was born May 28, 1939, at Lamar, to Worth and Pearl (Little) Norton. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1957 and later earned an associates degree in accounting. On May 15, 1958, at Baxter Springs, Kan., she married Glaze Eugene Morain and he preceded her in death April 13, 1987.

Louise worked in law enforcement for more than 34 years, serving as an office manager for the Stockton and Nevada Police Departments, and retiring from the Vernon County Sheriff's Department in 2002. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed needlework and was an avid reader. She moved back to Lamar from Nevada in 2003 to be near family.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam Householder, Lamar; a brother, Darrel and wife Linda Norton, Abilene, Texas; a sister, Jane and husband Rodney Andrews, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; a granddaughter Morgan and husband Billy Rudderham, Clever, Missouri; many nephews and nieces; a large extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Sunday. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.
