Lola Lorene Mann, 89, of Moran, Kan., died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kan.

She was born May 6, 1920, in Moran, the daughter of Arthur Glen and Martha Esther (Reynolds) Jackson. She grew up in the Mildred area and graduated from Mildred High School.

She worked in the aviation plants in Wichita during World War II. On Jan. 24, 1947, she married Delbert F. Mann in Fort Scott. They made their home in the Mildred area and she worked as a cook for the Mildred schools. In 1959, the family moved to Moran where she worked for Gene Robertson at the grocery store. She also worked for George Varner at his restaurant in Moran and later cooked for the Moran schools until she retired. Her husband preceded her in death on May 1, 1982.

She enjoyed traveling and baking for her church and other civic organizations in Moran. She was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church and the Moran American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Gary Mann and his wife, Pam of Pryor, Okla.; one daughter, Nancy Roberts of Iola, Kan.; five grandchildren, Taylor Mann of Claremore, Okla., Trevor Mann of Pryor, Okla., Stana Mead of Bolivar, Mo., Dawn Wilson and Heather Curry, both of Iola; sevent great-grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler and Ashten Wilson, Mason Moorefield, Ryker and Braxton Curry and Teegan Mann; three brothers, Glenn Jackson and wife, Lucille, of Ellinwood, Kan., Cecil Jackson and wife, Dottie, of Gran Terra, Okla. and James Jackson and wife, Maxine, of Erie, Kan.; and three sisters, Kathryn Deer of Fort Scott, Virginia Henderson, of Kincaid, Kan., and Dorothy Dice, of Garnett, Kan.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Moran United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Moran United Methodist Church or The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
