Ruby Sammons

Ruby Sammons, 93, departed this life Aug. 14, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born Dec. 20, 1915 in Carbondale, Kan., to J.W. and Linnie Jean Simmons Brewer. She was the sixth child of 11. She moved to Winslow, Ariz., in 1937 and there she met Lawrence E. Sammons and they married Nov. 16, 1937 in Flagstaff, Ariz. To this union two daughters and one son were born. Ruby moved to Colorado Springs in 2003 to be near her family.

Ruby belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church; she was a 60-year member of Winslow Chapter No. 3 OES and a past Grand Deputy in Arizona IORG.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Zelda Klein and her husband Jim; four grandchildren, Bruce Klein and his wife Linda, Stephani Fossinger and her husband Vancel, Susan Coffey, all of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dale Coffey and his wife Carol, Phoenix, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren, James Klein and his wife Kayla, Josie Klein, Jon Klein, Megan Fossinger, Felicia Fossinger, and Mellisa Coffey, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband Lawrence, her daughter Lola Coffey, and infant son Leon Earl.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo., with Bryan Keith officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Colorado Rainbow Scholarship Fund.
