Melody Ann Ferree

Melody Ann Ferree, age 55, of Nevada, passed away at her home in Nevada Sunday morning, Sept. 13, 2009. Melody was born Aug. 17, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Henry and Mamie Jean Gibson Kreuser. She married Greg Ferree on June 4, 1977 and he survives of the home.

Melody was born in Milwaukee, but grew up in Janesville, Wis., where she graduated from Craig High School. She then attended Ottowa University, graduating in 1976. After graduation she taught one year of Special Education in Olathe, Kan. The Ferree's then moved to Princeton, N.J. and while her husband attended Seminary, she taught for three years in Hightown, N.J. In 1980, Melody moved with her husband to Nevada, when he began serving the Nevada First Presbyterian Church. She returned to teaching in the Nevada R-5 School System in 1996, serving first in Parents as Teachers, and then teaching 4th grade several years at Truman Elementary. Melody has been very active in many areas of the church, including Sunday School teaching, as well as Choir and Mission trips. She was also a member of the Laurel's Federated Women's Club.

Melody Ferree is survived by her husband, Greg, of the home; four daughters, Deanna Womack and husband Mike, Beirut, Lebanon, Keila Ferree, Columbia, Mo., Jessica Ferree, Washington D.C., and Molly Ferree, of the home; one sister Jennifer Redlarczyk, Crown Point, Ind.; and one brother, Jim Kreuser, Chattanooga, Tenn.

A memorial service for Melody Ferree will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment of cremains will be in Moore Cemetery in Nevada at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Mission Trip Fund of the First Presbyterian Church, Nevada.
