Lewis B. Danley, Nevada, formerly of Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Christian Healthcare, in Nevada, following a short illness. He was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Barton County, Mo., to Arthur Lee Danley and Elsie Pearl Livingston Danley.

Lewis grew up in the Sheldon, Mo., area and graduated from Sheldon High School. He served for two years in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of War and received two bronze battle stars. Lewis was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the Pioneer Harvest Association. He farmed and raised cattle all of his working life, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed restoring Model A's and woodworking. He was a member of the Sheldon Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruth M. Mayfield, Nevada, and Louise M. Fessant, Valparaiso, Ind.; numerous nieces and nephews and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, James Danley, John Danley, Donald Danley, Charles Danley, Bert Danley, and Ralph Danley; and three sisters, Virginia Brown, Mabel McWilliams, and Della May Danley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Revs. Jim McCoy and Jerod Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
