Gladys Jean Claypool, 98, Richards, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at her residence following a brief illness. She was born March 27, 1911, in Vernon County to Eugene Ransom and Agnes Hall Ransom. She was married May 5, 1929, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Robert W. Claypool and he preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1993.

Mrs. Claypool grew up in the Metz, Hume area in Vernon County, Mo. She graduated from Fort Scott High School, in 1928. She was a farm wife for many years and in 1957 went to work for the Nevada State Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Rinehart Christian Church in Stotesbury, Mo.

Survivors include one son, Roy Gene Claypool and his wife Lena, of the home; two grandsons, Robert Claypool and his wife Alice, Newton, Iowa, and Travis Claypool and his wife Tammy, Richards; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, two sisters and one brother.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at Richland Cemetery, Richards, with pastor Ricky Wallace officiating.

Friends may call now and until 1 p.m., on Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
