Lavon H. Clayton Coleman, 88, died Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 2010, at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Mapleton, Kan., the daughter of Curtis Leroy and Emma C. (O'Dell) Clayton. She married Howard Coleman Nov. 25, 1939 in Pleasanton, Kan. He preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1986.

She moved to Fulton, Kansas in 1950 from Mapleton, and graduated from Fulton High School. She was a member of the Fulton United Methodist for 50 years, a former member of the Mapleton Christian Church, and also attended the Mound City Baptist Church. She was passionate about attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's ball games, and rarely missed one.

She is survived by three sons, Garyl Duane Coleman of Prescott, Kan., Truman Lee Coleman, of Mound City, Kan., and Harold Dean Coleman, of Fort Scott; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her three brothers, Elsworth Clayton, Wayne Clayton, and Curtis Ray "Rosie" Clayton.

The Rev. Chuck Russell and the Rev. Kenneth Wood will conduct funeral services 9 a.m., Monday, Feb. 15, at the Fulton United Methodist Church, with burial following at the Mapleton Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be made to the Prescott Country View Nursing Home and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS, 66701.
