Anna Mae (Hargrove) Cox, 91, Auburn, N.H., formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Parkland Hospital in Derry, N.H. She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in rural Vernon County, to Charley T. Hargrove and Bertha O. Hawkins Hargrove. She married Edwin J.R. Cox of Clarendon, Texas, June 29, 1941. He was a commissioned officer in the Naval Reserve during World War II. Mr. Cox died suddenly in November of 1962.

Mrs. Cox was a graduate of El Dorado Springs High School in El Dorado Springs, Mo. After the war she and her husband lived in Hawthorne, N.J., until moving to the Chicago, Ill., area in 1959. After the death of her husband, Anna returned to Vernon County with her children, living in Nevada until 2003, when she joined her daughter in New Hampshire. Anna was an excellent seamstress, singer, enjoyed watching baseball, and had a good sense of humor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Cox, Auburn, N.H.; one son, J.R. Cox, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kristen Palmer, Lee's Summit, Mo.; one sister, Ruby Sherman, Ottawa, Kan.; three brothers, Allen Hargrove, El Dorado Springs, Charles Hargrove and Richard Hargrove, both of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, Mo.
