Mary Sue Houdeshell, 76, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 28, 1933, in Nickleton, Mo., to Ivan Doll and Ruth Emma Daugherty Doll. She married Robert E. Houdeshell on Nov. 7, 1949, in Vernon County, and he survives of the home.

Mary Sue came to Vernon County with her family in 1941 when they purchased the farm next to her grandparents. In addition to being a homemaker and farm wife, she worked for Thomas Pharmacy for several years and worked for Ladies Peddler in Nevada for many years. She was an active D.A.R. member for many years.

In addition to her husband Robert, survivors include; one daughter, Sheila Key and her husband, Buzz, Holt, Mo.,; one son, David Houdeshell, Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Cristin Houdeshell-Hill, Bossier City, La., Ashley Osburn, Springfield, Mo., Alex Key, Holt, Mo., and Adam Key, Holt, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Erik, and Victor. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Doll.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with Buzz and Sheila Key officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call Friday, until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation c/o Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
