Anna Phillips

Anna Phillips, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born June 13, 1926, in Augsburg, Germany, to Joseph and Rosa Posch. She and David F. Phillips were married on Feb. 13, 1947, in Wiesbaden, Germany, and he survives of the home.

Anna grew up in Germany and met David F. Phillips during World War II in Austria. In 1948, they came back to the United States. Anna was the first war bride to come to Nevada and became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1951. Her favorite pastime was visiting friends in local nursing homes and hospitals in Nevada. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors in addition to her husband David, include four children, Joseph Phillips and his wife, Sara, Claremore, Okla., Joanna Hinds and her husband, Jerry, Nevada, Mo., James Phillips and his wife, Barbara, Camdenton, Mo., and Judy Stark and her husband, Danny, Nevada, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, at the First Christian Church in Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt and the Rev. David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home.
