Linda Louise Dobson Curtis, 60, Nevada, gave up her courageous battle with melanoma and ovarian cancer on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at her home. She was born in the elevator of the hospital in Parsons, Kan., to George E. Dobson and Bernice Rasa Dobson on Sept. 2, 1950. She and Monte J. Curtis were married on July 14, 1978, in Miami, Okla., and he survives of the home.

Linda spent her formative years in Nevada and was a Nevada High School graduate in 1968. In 1979, she obtained her Missouri real estate sales license and joined Monte as co-owner of Curtis and Sons Real Estate. Linda was active throughout her prosperous career, serving as past president of the Five County Board of Realtors as well as various other offices. She also served on the board for Center of Education for National Board of Realtors. An active member of Soroptimist, she served as past president and was a lifetime member. Linda's passions were her family and her career. She enjoyed spending winters with Monte in southern Texas and her beloved dog, Mandy. At home she enjoyed her animals, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Monte, of 32 years, she is survived by two sons, Andrew Blair Remington and his wife, Donetta, and John Joseph "JJ" Curtis and his wife, Betsy, all of Nevada; two grandchildren, Taylor Blair and Molly Louise Remington, Nevada; her father, George Dobson, Nevada; one brother, Larry Dobson and his wife, Jean, New Rhoades, La.; an uncle and aunt, Harland and Doris Rasa, Lexington, Mo.; an aunt, Helen Hanley, Kimberling City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Bernice Rasa Dobson, and an uncle and aunt, Francis and Katie Rasa, Lexington, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 5-6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the funeral home.
